Upon the release of Gorgeous George and the Zigzag Zit-Faced Zombies back in January, we unleashed a dangerous toxin which turned children in schools up and down the UK into zombies. With the help of teachers and parents, the outbreak was documented on the books website.
We were taken aback by the creativity and attention each child put into their costumes at the numerous zombie outbreak events we held. This is why we will be holding another nationwide launch, this time for the release of Gorgeous George and the Unidentified Unsinkable Underpants by Stuart Reid.
In this latest two part adventure Gorgeous George, Crayon Kenny, Allison and Grandpa Jock must solve the mystery of the Loch Ness Monster, but they can only do it with your help!
To celebrate the launch of the book, we are looking for schools to take part in a unique and very exciting nationwide competition which promotes literature, art and creativity to children, and will end with one child winning the prize of becoming a character in Part 2 of the Unidentified Unsinkable Underpants story.
Children across the UK will create their own ‘Unidentified Monster’ in whatever exciting and creative way they want to. They can draw it, paper mache it, spray paint it, build it out of clay, it’s up to your school and your students. We can’t wait to see what amazing, innovative ideas you make up.
Then with the information pack which each participating school will receive, the children will have to fill out a character sheet for their monster, explaining its name, powers, history, what type of food it eats etc. The sillier and weirder the better.
Schools across the country will then have until January to post photos of their children’s monsters on the Unidentified Unsinkable Underpants website, which will host a virtual gallery of monsters made by children across the UK.
From all the entries posted on the website, a winner will be chosen by Gorgeous George author Stuart Reid and illustrator Calvin Innes. That child will then feature in the second part of Unidentified Unsinkable Underpants book which will be released in March 2014.
The competition is open to primary school children of any age. The winner won’t be chosen solely by the best drawing, we’re looking for something different, something silly, something no one else has thought of. Examples, as well a copy of all previous Gorgeous George titles will be included in the information pack given to every school.
The event is a great way to get children excited about art and character creation, as well as being an engaging project for children to work on in both English and art lessons for several weeks.
We can’t wait to see what weird, wonderful and wacky monsters each child creates.
If you or your child’s school are interested in being part of this unique event, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you out an information pack giving you all the details you’ll need to participate in the launch, as well as fact sheets, drawing tips and tricks and copies of the Gorgeous George books for your library.
We can’t wait to hear from you.
